Size = up to 250mm.

The eastern bearded dragon is usually a shade of grey, although sometimes they can be yellowish brown, brown or reddish brown. Juveniles have a prominent pattern but on adults this is almost absent. There is sometimes dark or pale blotches on the body. Their belly is white to grey with short streaks running along the length of the body. The mature males develop a grey to black 'beard' and an obscure pale green to blue tinge on the forepart of their head.

Range = Eastern Australia, from Cooktown (Qld) to south-eastern South Australia.

Habitat = Woodlands and dry eucalypt forests.

Diet = Feeds on insects, small lizards and snakes.

Other Names = 'Eastern Bearded Dragon' ~ 'Jew Lizard' ~ 'Frillneck' or 'Frilly' lizard although they are a different spiecies to the Frilled Lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii)
